Everything a Lone Soldier Needs to Know

Military service is a challenging and complex experience for every soldier, but for Lone Soldiers, the challenges are even greater. They serve far from home, without close family to provide daily support, and often face feelings of loneliness and isolation.

To help meet these challenges, there are a wide range of services and benefits specifically designed for Lone Soldiers. These include housing, food, financial support, and emotional care – all aimed at giving them a sense of belonging, security, and warmth throughout their service, and in many cases, even after their release.

Who Is Considered a Lone Soldier?

A soldier may be classified as a Lone Soldier for several reasons:

  • Parents who permanently reside abroad.
  • Being an orphan without parental support.
  • A lack of family network or estrangement from family ties.

If you are recognized as a Lone Soldier, you are entitled to financial aid, housing assistance, special vacation days, and various benefits that make your military service and daily life more manageable.

Even after discharge, you are eligible for additional support: financial grants, rental assistance, scholarships, and public discounts.

Food Discounts for Soldiers

Managing food and a budget is one of the biggest challenges Lone Soldiers face. Many restaurants, cafés, and major food chains offer discounted meals for soldiers, enabling access to nutritious meals at reduced prices.

Beyond that, nonprofits and community initiatives provide free hot meals, especially on Shabbat, during holidays, or when soldiers are on extended missions. These meals offer not only nourishment but also a meaningful sense of community and belonging.

Housing for Lone Soldiers

Housing is a basic need, but for Lone Soldiers it carries even deeper meaning. Having a safe, comfortable place to live allows them to focus on their military duties without added stress.

Several dedicated programs provide holiday and weekend housing, as well as welcoming homes managed by nonprofits. These homes offer more than just a bed – they provide warmth, family atmosphere, and a chance to recharge.

Beit Eli is one such organization, providing a fully furnished and comfortable residence for Lone Soldiers, along with meals, family-like atmosphere, and supportive guidance.

Emotional and Social Support

Food and housing are critical, but so is emotional support. Beit Eli offers:

  • One-on-one counseling and mentorship.
  • Group support and social activities.
  • Connections with adoptive families and Shabbat/holiday hosting.

This emotional framework helps Lone Soldiers build resilience, cope with daily stress, and feel cared for beyond the military system.

Lone Soldier? Not Anymore!

At Beit Eli, we provide Lone Soldiers with housing, hot meals, and social activities to ensure that every soldier has a sense of family and belonging – even far from home.

In addition, we offer emotional guidance, counseling, and support throughout the entire service. This way, soldiers don’t just receive their physical needs – food and shelter – but also the warmth, security, and care that allow them to face the emotional and social challenges of army life.
