“Beit Eli for the Rehabilitating”: Embracing families during their hardest moments
The war on the front and the war in rehabilitation The “Iron Swords” war has left thousands of wounded soldiers who are now beginning the long and arduous journey of rehabilitation. Behind every wounded soldier stands a family – parents, siblings, and partners – who are forced to put their lives on hold and stay days and nights by their loved one’s bedside in hospitals and rehabilitation centers (such as Tel HaShomer, Beit Loewenstein, and others). For families living far from the center of Israel, this presents an enormous logistical and financial challenge. One cannot sleep on a plastic chair in the ward for long.
The Initiative: A Warm Home Near the Hospital Beit Eli Association, quickly identifying the rising need from the field, established the “Beit Eli for the Rehabilitating” project. The project’s goal is to provide hospitality and lodging solutions for the families of the wounded, near medical centers, at no cost or at a subsidized rate.
What does the project include?
Guest Apartments: Fully equipped and pleasant apartments that allow the family to shower, sleep in a comfortable bed, and recharge their strength to return and support the wounded soldier.
Hot Meals: Providing nutritious food for family members, who often forget to eat amidst the stress and worry.
Emotional Support: A network of volunteers who accompany the families, listen, and assist with various needs that arise.
Donate nowWhy is it so important? The rehabilitation process is a marathon, not a sprint. For a wounded soldier to recover, they need a strong and supportive family by their side. “Beit Eli for the Rehabilitating” ensures that parents do not collapse under the logistical burden, allowing them to dedicate 100% of their attention to their son or daughter’s recovery. This is Israeli mutual responsibility at its best.
How to get help or donate? If you are a family of a wounded soldier in need of assistance, or if you wish to donate to this important project – please contact the Beit Eli center through the website. Together, we will ensure that no one is left alone in the battle for life.
